Could I ever really be close friends with someone who votes Conservative? Emphatically, no.
While the soft-bellied right might cry "intolerance", I would get on my soapbox so everyone can hear and talk about the plight of the poor, sick, disabled and homeless has massively worsened under Tory governments, how rampant, unfettered capitalism has wreaked havoc on our economy and our environment (as I type, the Amazon is ablaze: being torched to clear the forests that supply our planet with no less than 20% of its oxygen because Bolsonaro is keen to free up land for crops and cattle) and how lies and distrust sown by politicians from the right and their mouthpieces in the media have led to a sharp rise in racism and brought about brexit.
Anyone who votes for a party who will gleefully accelerate everything that is wrong with the 21st century will never be a true friend of mine.
